Elvira’s current research focuses on innovation policy, regional development and resilience and industrial policy. For The Productivity Institute, Elvira is researching the impact of government procurement on firms’ innovation and productivity, in partnership with the Connected Places Catapult and the University of Birmingham. She is also a co-investigator in the Soteria project, funded by the Innovate UK’s Digital Security by Design (DSbD) programme, where she is working to understand the productivity gains of investing in cyber security technologies. Elvira’s work has been published in leading journals such as Research Policy, Technovation, Regional Studies, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, the Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy and Society and Science and Public Policy and she is currently editor of the journal Regional Studies. Elvira is also Adjunct Professor at the Mohn Center of Innovation and Regional Development at the University of Western Norway and visiting fellow at the Centre for Innovation Management Research (CIMR) of Birkbeck, University of London.
